Colorfly regular bookbinding methods for book
Jun 03 , 2019

Binding can be just as important an element of your printing project as the printing itself and for that reason we offer many options to meet your needs. We are great at choosing the bindery option that best suits your order . There are plenty of options when it comes to bookbinding methods, here let’s talk about regular binding type .

Saddle Stitch

Saddle stitch refers to the popular bookbinding method in which folded sheets of paper are gathered one inside the other and stapled through the center line with staples. The staples pass through the folded crease from the outside and are clinched between the innermost pages. This form of binding is most commonly used on exercise books but has a variety of other applications as well.

This method usually consists of two staples, though larger books may require more staples along the spine. The name saddle stitch comes from the binding process. In the printing industry, stapling is often referred to as stitching. During the saddle stitching process, the collated sheets are draped over a saddle-like piece of equipment, which is where the term saddle comes from.

Spiral Binding

Spiral binding uses a metal or plastic coil to hold the sheets of paper together. Spiral Binding is perfect for manuals, calendars, cookbooks and promotional materials. We install this binding by inserting pre-formed pairs of wired loops into a punched book. An advantage of this binding is its ability to let pages lie flat for easily accessible photocopying and note taking. Spiral binding elements are available in multiple colors (white, black, silver, bronze, gold, pewter, blue, grey, green, and red) and diameters to give your books the exact look you desire .

Perfect Binding

A perfect bound book is also referred to as a softcover book. Perfect binding is similar to hardcover binding in many ways but significantly less expensive. A perfect bound book is also referred to as having a softcover book. The cover is usually made from a thicker cardstock  and laminated or coated to protect the book. The spine is glued or threaded together.

Perfect binding is an economical alternative to hardcover and is still an excellent form of book presentation. Not only is it cheaper to produce perfect bound books but it is also cheaper to ship them in comparison to hardcovers. If you are planning on distributing your book or having a large quantity shipped to yourself this could be a great option for you !

Case Bound

Case bound is the most durable and lasting option with rigid protective covers. Typical cover materials are binder’s board or heavy paperboard covered with buckram or other cloth, heavy paper or leather. The inside pages are typically sewn together in sections, then glued to paper which is in turn glued to the cover spine .
